After a few frames of text, the first episode is revealed. This scene happens before the reveal of the crowns, so it may just be there for entertainment, but it could also mean that players will encounter more remnants of the Heide Empire. In Souls fashion, the player character swiftly meets an end. One of the first images we see though, is a brief clip of the player character fighting a Heide Knight.

Souls are often the key to power in Drangleic, so it may be that these crowns have been charged with the power of souls, and those who wear one are given extraordinary power.

We are told early on that the crowns hold the power of former kings. The trailer is brief, but there are a few things we can speculate about based on the imagery we see.
